❃ Medieval artists had a problem with dragons: there were simply too many kinds. By the later Middle Ages, heralds began imposing some order on the chaos, and the wyvern emerged as one of the more recognizable forms — a dragon built on two legs rather than four, with a pair of great wings and a long, serpentine tail. Its name descends through Old French wivre from the Latin vipera, meaning viper, an ancestry well suited to something traditionally depicted with claws, scales and a distinctly unfriendly disposition.
❃ The distinction mattered most in heraldry. Wyverns crawled across shields, seals and architectural ornament throughout medieval Europe, particularly in England, where their two-legged silhouette made them conveniently different from the four-legged dragon. Later fantasy turned that old artistic convention into taxonomy, treating wyverns as a separate species of dragon rather than simply another way of drawing one. Medieval heralds probably never expected their leg-counting decisions to inspire centuries of arguments among fantasy enthusiasts, but here we are.
❃ Ours takes the wyvern in a suitably wild direction — a long-bodied green creature with two hind legs, sweeping wings, a ridged back and a tail built for making its presence known. Bright yellow membranes flash beneath the wings and at the tail, while a toothy grin and watchful golden eyes give it the expression of something that has already spotted you from above. Less interested in heraldic formalities than its medieval ancestors, perhaps, but unmistakably a wyvern.

Bringing it back to form:
1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.
2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.
3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.
4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.
5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.
