❃ Every soul that entered the Greek underworld walked past him — and none walked back out. Cerberus, the three-headed hound of Hades, was stationed at the gates of the dead with a single job description: let everyone in, let no one leave. Born of Typhon and Echidna, the most fearsome pairing in Greek myth, he counted the Hydra and the Chimera among his siblings, which tells you everything about the family reunions.

❃ Heroes who got past him did so by wit rather than force. Orpheus lulled all three heads to sleep with his lyre; the Sibyl guiding Aeneas tossed him a drugged honey cake, one origin of the phrase "a sop to Cerberus." Only Heracles ever bested him bare-handed, dragging the hound up to the daylight as the twelfth and final labor — after which Cerberus was, reasonably, returned to his post. Ancient artists couldn't quite agree on the details: some accounts give him a serpent's tail, others a mane bristling with snakes, and early poets counted as many as fifty heads before tradition settled on three.

When It Arrives

Your plush travels inside our satchel, and some designs may be vacuum-sealed to keep them protected and compact during their journey. Don’t worry if yours looks a little flattened when first unpacked — the filling is designed to bounce back and simply needs a little time and fluffing to take its full shape.

Bringing it back to form:

1. Remove it from the packaging as soon as it arrives — don’t leave it packed.

2. Give it a good fluff — gently knead the body and work the limbs, wings, ears, or tail to redistribute the filling.

3. Let it breathe. Most plush regain their full shape within 1–3 days, while larger or denser designs can take up to a week.

4. Smooth any flattened or creased fur with your fingers or a soft brush as it fluffs back up.

5. Want to speed things up? Use a hairdryer on low, warm heat, held about 20cm away. Keep it moving and use short bursts between fluffs. Never use high heat.

Puppy dogs, bears, and bunnies are a dime a dozen, but the Gatekeeper of the Underworld is *unique*! Don't let those evil red eyes and fangs fool you, Cerberus is just as soft and cuddly (as long as he likes you!). He's really well made (which is the same for all of the Mythical Woods creatures and Gage Beasley animals). I wasn't disappointed and I don't think you will be, either!

I LOVE my Cerberus! He is absurdly cuddly for such a ferociously fearsome fellow. A couple observations: I wish he were a bit bigger. I also wish he could actually stand, but of course his magnificent heads make him quite topheavy. I'm so glad he exists! Together with my two tardigrades, he makes the perfect strange creature trio, perfect for snuggling. Well done!!
